We bought it at auction. It was a bit exciting and a bit scary. We crunched the numbers, asked the universe, chatted up the auctioneer and finally, probably crucially, put in the last bid. It actually got passed in to us. So we had to do some to and fro negotiating and then heard the auctioneer announce to the waiting crowd that the house was sold.
